THE BEACH A short walk across the street brings you to a quiet, pedestrian-only beach. With no cars allowed, finding your perfect spot is effortless. When you return, rinse off at the outdoor shower with both hot and cold water. THE LOCATION The Skipper sits just far enough from the city that the beach feels peaceful and uncrowded — yet everything Galveston has to offer is only about 20 minutes away. Right next door you'll find a grocery store, gas station, and restaurant. The beach, food, and fuel are all within easy walking distance — you may not need your car at all during your stay. INSIDE The Skipper features an open-concept layout with the living, kitchen, and dining areas flowing together — great for keeping the group connected whether you're cooking, eating, or relaxing. Ocean views are visible from the windows throughout the living areas. The kitchen is well-stocked and includes a dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, washer and dryer, and more. The primary bedroom features a queen bed and a TV with Roku. The large bedroom has two queen beds. Entire home rental Self Check-in via Digital Lock or Lockbox backup. A decibel meter inside the home monitors noise levels — this device does not listen to or record audio, and is approved by all of our online travel agencies. HOUSE RULES (see detailed list under house policies) 🚫 No parties or events – This property is on a septic system and cannot support large gatherings. The Skipper is also an older property and large numbers of people can quickly become dangerous. No guests beyond those listed on your reservation. If your group is renting multiple properties, please do not use The Skipper as a shared day-house. Anyone on the property counts as a guest. 🐾 No pets – This is a pet-free property. THE NEIGHBORHOOD The Skipper is tucked into a quiet, one-street neighborhood just west of Jamaica Beach, on the second row of homes with the beach right across the street. Most homes in front of The Skipper are newly built and elevated, meaning you can see the ocean right beneath them — an unexpected bonus. A small city pocket park sits near the neighborhood entrance. The Skipper is about halfway down the street — far enough that the beach in front of the house stays quiet, while the livelier park area remains just a short walk away. Enjoy the best of both worlds!
Home truths
We have hosted many parties of six who have enjoyed themselves, but *we* feel with the seating arrangements and single bathroom, that our home is best suited for up to four or five adult sized people, plus children. Open stairway is outdoors and partially protected by the roof overhang. Our house is lower to the ground than most and is only one floor. Checkout Requests are in the check-in/check-out information.

There is little or no infant support in the home. Info on renting equipment is in the house guide. 4. Fees: $250/day smoking fee. $250 lost key fee to replace lockset. $275 undeclared pet fee. (note: Guests usually do not need a key). The late checkout fee is $25/hr but may be higher if we cannot prepare the house for the next guest. 5. Check-out is by 11:00 a.m. Check-in is after 4:00 p.m. 6. You ensure you have a felony-free record. 7. A violation of the House Rules can lead to the immediate removal of all guests without a refund. 8. You agree to be booked in goodwill and will not attempt to damage the property because you are dissatisfied with a ruling by an online travel agency or the Host. 9. If subsequent guests, with reservations booked direct or via an online travel agency, are unable to use the property due to any action by you, not limited to lost keys, locked doors, accessibility issues, damaged furniture, smoking, lead times for replacement items, damage to the property or violation of house rules, you are financially responsible for the lost revenue, discounts, or compensation afforded to them by us for the inconvenience. 10. Virus: The guest will communicate with the Host before renting if they are entering quarantine or working in a high-risk environment. 11. All adult guest names and ages must be provided. 12. Guests may need to share an email address with us so that we can send the House Guide PDF. This guild has a lot of good information. 13. Guests agree to do a few chores, detailed in the "home truths" section, as part of checkout that are designed to reduce cleaning turn-around time and keep costs low. Guests may pay a small fee, in advance of their stay, to remove our checkout requests. 14. We do not bill guests for everyday wear and tear.
